It is our great pleasure to welcome you to Ford Made in America, a groundbreaking initiative that celebrates music, creativity and communities nationwide. We're very proud to partner with the 65 small-budget orchestras in all 50 states that combined their resources to commission and perform a new work by Joan Tower. Ms. Tower's Made in America will receive more than 70 performances within an eighteen month period, an unprecedented accomplishment for a brand new work!
Thanks to the visionary and generous support of title sponsor Ford Motor Company Fund and government partner the National Endowment for the Arts, Ford Made in America goes beyond the traditional commission. With the composer at the core, it offers orchestras resources that enhance their engagement with communities, deepen their involvement with young people and promote their mastery of the music of our time.
Ford Made in America unveils the rich and varied orchestral life of this country and champions one of America's most accomplished and treasured composers. From Maine to Hawaii and Alaska to Florida, this program will surely leave musicians and audiences richer for having embraced a new work and having played a part in the creative process.
